We officially launched our new LEAD ON: Values in Action strategic plan with a university-wide kickoff. The Legends Club was filled with the TCU community excited to learn more about the new strategic plan and how we are already working to bring it to reality.

A highlight from the event were the pillar breakout sessions. From the corner where I stood next to the Community Engagement poster, I saw crowds around each poster, asking questions and engaging in conversations. At my poster, I was fortunate to meet so many from our community interested in supporting Community Engagement and even more have followed up with me after the event.
Now the real work begins, but where does it start? With you, me, all of us.
First up, we’re working to prioritize which initiatives to start immediately, which are coming soon, and which might have wait for a few other items to fall into place (e.g. other initiatives, resources, additional students, etc).
Next, we’re working with organizational leaders to establish clear metrics and milestones for the first one to two couple of years of the strategic plan. We’re also setting up meetings across campus and with governance leaders (e.g. Faculty Senate, Staff Assembly, Student Government Association, Graduate Student Assembly) to gather insights that help shape the plan for the upcoming year.
The Board of Trustees meeting in April will launch a new annual calendar of strategic plan activities. Every April, we will review the progress of the plan and seek Board approval for the metrics, milestones, annual budget, major capital projects, etc for the next fiscal year. And speaking of progress, let’s highlight a couple of early wins for the new plan!
The central goal of the Athletics pillar is to “Elevate TCU Athletics’ legacy and student-athlete experience by winning 30 conference and national championships.” As of Feb. 13, 2025, Horned Frog teams are well on their way to meeting this lofty goal with 11 programs in the Top 25:
No. 1 – Men’s Tennis
No. 2 – Equestrian
No. 2 – Beach Volleyball
No. 4 – Triathlon
No. 5 – Rifle
No. 11 – Women’s Basketball
No. 16 – Women’s Soccer
No. 17 – Women’s Golf
No. 18 – Baseball
No. 21 – Women’s Track and Field
No. 25 – Indoor Volleyball
Football and Men’s Track and Field receiving votes
Another early win is the new TCU homepage. If you haven’t visited www.tcu.edu lately, you need to check it out – and especially try the new site on mobile. The new site was developed by TCU’s marketing and communications team to connect with TCU’s core value proposition and accelerate interest from prospective students, employees, partners, etc.
So now we start? Nope – we already started! With these and so many other early wins, TCU is already writing the next chapter. Go Frogs!
