Texas Christian University’s enrollment for fall 2024 increased 1.2% overall to 12,938. This includes a 1.2% increase in undergraduate students to 11,049 and a 1% increase in graduate enrollment to 1,889. All numbers are in comparison to fall 2023.
Retention numbers were once again very strong, with TCU retaining first-time-in-college students at a rate of 92.9%.
“TCU’s strong connected campus, our amazing faculty and staff, and our incredible first-year programs are among the best in the nation – this is evident not only by our strong retention numbers, but in what I witness every day,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. “I’m so proud of our students, faculty and staff, and I am delighted to see our Horned Frogs thriving.”
President Daniel W. Pullin recognized the art of managing enrollment and class makeup.
“Our admission and enrollment team did another outstanding job this year admitting one of the strongest and most academically qualified classes we’ve seen at TCU,” Pullin said. “As we look to the future, we aim to leverage the strong TCU brand and set a path for responsible, strategic growth. This anticipated growth is interwoven throughout our proposed campus master plan.”
As TCU embarks on its campus master plan, two new residence halls and an additional dining hall are on track for completion in January, providing housing for almost 300 students.
To continue recruiting a diverse and well-rounded student body, TCU recently announced that it extended its test-optional policy through 2026.
“Test-optional admission supports our mission to review each applicant holistically, looking beyond test scores at what students have achieved in their schools and communities,” said Heath Einstein, vice provost of enrollment management.
TCU administration also credited the Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid with navigating a particularly challenging year with the federal government’s changes to FAFSA. In a year when prospective students nationwide were receiving delayed aid notification, the team planned strategically to provide timely financial aid notification to families, helping to ensure TCU’s strong first-year class.
TCU’s two largest undergraduate enrollments continue to be in the Neeley School of Business and in the College of Science & Engineering. TCU Neeley added 201 undergraduate students for a total of 3,416, up 6.3%, the largest growth from a single college. CSE added 55 undergraduate students for a total of 2,341, up 2.4%.
