TCU’s lone spring Frog Camp will now include current first-year and transfer students who started TCU in the fall but weren’t able to attend a Frog Camp. This will be an addition to its traditional participants, new students for the spring. The program is actively seeking faculty and staff facilitators and campers.
Once called Frog Camp Tundra due to its placement in January, the camp will now be called “New Beginnings.”
“We went with the name New Beginnings because it applies across all intended audiences. For new Spring students, TCU is a ‘new beginning’ for them regardless of if they are fresh out of high school or coming to us from a different institution. It’s a chance to start a new chapter,” said Cedric Garron, Frog Camp director. “The same applies for our current students who attend. Frog Camp New Beginnings will hopefully provide a chance for a fresh start—a new beginning at TCU with Frog Camp as the catalyst.”
Garron is asking for faculty and staff assistance in two ways. Several facilitators are needed to support students in Frog Camp small groups. Faculty and staff are essential to the Frog Camp experience, and It’s a wonderful way to connect with students, he said. No previous Frog Camp experience is needed.
Second, faculty and staff are asked to simply encourage eligible students to participate.
“Email them, tap them on the shoulder or however your office communicates, please share this opportunity,” Garron said. “We want them to take a leap and start a new beginning with us.”
Frog Camp New Beginnings will be held Jan. 12-14 at Camp Summit in Dallas. Faculty/staff are asked to submit an interest form. Students interested can learn more online.
