Tom Wavering
Inaugural Chief University Strategy & Innovation Officer
A member of the President’s Cabinet, Wavering is focused on expanding TCU’s culture of innovation and academic excellence and providing strategic guidance for the future.
Wavering previously served as executive director of the Tom Love Innovation Hub and entrepreneurship faculty member at the University of Oklahoma, the state’s flagship research university.
His efforts to build and lead Oklahoma’s largest entrepreneurial support organization advanced the state’s innovation economy with an economic impact of more than $400 million.
Prior to joining academia, Wavering spent 18 years in industry roles from research scientist to executive leadership, launching and scaling technology-focused startups.
He has six patents and holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering from Virginia Tech with a minor in creative writing.
