My creative activities focus on researching and creating materials and methods that
optimize learning in the sciences. I review books, apps, and learning methods and
remain up to date on best practices by attending workshops and reading journals related
to science education. I publish lab manuals, lab exercises for anatomy apps, and present
workshops based on my findings in the classroom.
I strive to create an inclusive classroom environment where all feel welcome and comfortable
asking questions, because questions are at the heart of science and learning. By providing
an environment and the right tools to promote learning and ask questions, students
can succeed. My class uses team-based learning, drawing, multimedia, traditional lecture,
case studies, and other methods to promote active learning and critical thinking.
