Sayed Gilani

Hello! My name is Sayed Gilani and I am an incoming first-year Ph.D. student in English. I graduated from Southern Methodist University in 2021 with a B.A. in English and a Creative Writing Specialization. I also attained my Master of Liberal Studies from SMU in 2023 with dual specializations in Literature and Human Rights. I’m excited to begin my doctoral studies at TCU this Fall and dive further into my primary fields of study in both African American and Asian American literature with a focus on human rights, the minority voice in literature, as well as expanding my palette in other areas of Literature. Outside of academia, I’m a big film buff, music lover, and sports fan so my free-time is typically occupied by one of those things as to always keep my plate full. I’m excited to be a part of this program and I’m looking forward to meeting everyone in it!
