Areas of Focus
Guangyan Chen is an associate professor of Chinese at Texas Christian University.
She has taught various levels of collegiate Chinese language and culture courses since 1998. Before she joined TCU in 2014, she taught these courses at Southern Methodist University, University of Notre Dame, College of William & Mary, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Nanjing University.
Her research interests span the areas of Chinese pedagogy, acquisition, assessment, and pragmatics. A common thread in her research is her emphasis on a culture-oriented pedagogical approach. Specifically, her research interests include: culture-oriented L2 Chinese pedagogy and acquisition, L2 Chinese assessment, corrective feedback, and technology-integrated Chinese curriculum using cloud-based technologies.
