Gary Pérez, DMSc, PA-C graduated from the U.S. Army Physician Assistant School as the honor graduate and received his Bachelor of Science as Physician Associate with distinction from the University of Oklahoma in 1988. Dr. Pérez completed the United States Air Force Orthopaedic Surgery Residency for Physician Assistants and earned his Master's of Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Nebraska. He received his Doctor of Medical Science Degree in Physician Assistant Education from the University of Lynchburg.

Dr. Pérez served in the Unites States Army with the 82nd Airborne Division and the United States Air Force with the Air Force Special Operations Command. He retired from military service in 2005.

Dr. Pérez began his career in physician assistant education in 2014 as the Founding Clinical Director for the Florida International University (FIU) Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine Master of Physician Assistant Studies Program. He then was the Associate Program Director for the University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy School of Medicine Physician Assistant Program until joining the University of Oklahoma as the Program Director. Dr. Pérez successfully lead the Oklahoma PA Program through the re-accreditation process prior to coming to TCU.

His medical specialty is orthopaedics. His research interests include active learning and admissions processes.
