Deja Groomes

Deja Groomes graduated with her Bachelor’s in English from Texas Christian University in 2022. After reading Toni Morrison’s The Bluest Eye during her undergraduate studies, Deja was captured by the field of African American Literature and never looked back. As a first-year Master’s student, Deja is interested in the studying African American Literature, with focus areas in Black Studies, Black Girlhood Studies, and the Digital Humanities. Deja’s passion for teaching others about the power of literature extended into her post-graduate role as a professional college Writing Tutor. During her leisure time, Deja can be found writing about popular fiction on her blog or figure skating a local ice rink.
