Cynthia Savage is the Associate Dean of Teacher Education, Assessment, and Undergraduate Studies and a Professor of Professional Practice in the College of Education (COE). Her instructional expertise lies in areas of youth advocacy and teacher education at the undergraduate level as well as in research methodology and program evaluation at the graduate level. In addition, Dr. Savage provides leadership with international programs for the COE by organizing faculty-led experiences and serving as the college’s European Teacher Education Network (ETEN) exchange coordinator.

Within the state of Texas, she advocates for teacher education by maintaining involvement in the Education Deans of Independent Colleges and Universities in Texas (EDICUT) where she currently serves as president, and in the Consortium of State Organizations for Texas Teacher Education (CSOTTE) as a board member. Further, she regularly consults as an evaluator and/or psychometrician for school districts, non-profits, and the Texas Education Agency (TEA).

Dr. Savage has authored or co-authored more than 100 presentations, white papers, technical reports, evaluation reports, and peer-reviewed journal publications. Some notable activities and contributions include: receiving TCU’s Global Innovator Award (2016) in collaboration with Dutch colleagues, participating in Harvard’s Institutes for Higher Education Management Development Program (2017), being selected as a Coleman Entrepreneurial Faculty Fellow (2018-2019), supporting the COE in its efforts to receive awards such as the Association of Teacher Education’s Distinguished Teacher Education Program (2020), and receiving TCU's Deans Teaching Award (2020). Dr. Savage began her career as an elementary teacher in Little Rock, Arkansas and also taught as a pre-school teacher in Alta Loma, California.
