Area of Focus

The Colonial Gulf South from 1500-1836.

Description of Research

I specifically focus on Spanish Colonial Louisiana. My dissertation looks at the 1768 French Creole revolt that overthrew the first Spanish government in Louisiana and how it situates in the broader historiography of the Age of Revolutions while also examining impacts of settler colonialism and settler sovereignty in the Gulf South. It is entitled "A Rebellious Bayou: Patrimonial Sovereignty and the 1768 French Creole Revolt in Spanish Louisiana".
