Areas of Focus

The Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development (KPICD) focuses on research, outreach, and education involving children and youth who have experienced relational trauma, as well as evidence-based interventions for this population, specifically Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). The KPICD educates and supports caregivers, professionals, organizations, and entire systems who are involved in providing care for children and youth, such as child welfare agencies, schools, residential treatment facilities, juvenile detention centers, mental health organizations, and medical and law practices.
