Brian Diaz joined the TCU Mathematics graduate program in Fall 2021. He graduated from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio, TX with a degree in Mathematics and a minor in Music, and he received the Senior Award in Mathematics. Later he earned a first Master’s Degree in Mathematics from University of Iowa and is currently completing a Ph.D. at TCU, with a focus on Number Theory; he is working with Dr. Qiao Zhang. Brian has two published papers, one with three coauthors in 2020 in Res. Number Theory that resulted from an REU, and another solo paper in 2023 in the American Mathematical Monthly. In his ten years as an educator, he worked with various agencies and institutions--from teaching at the college level at University of Iowa and TCU, to and most recently, an instructor of mathematics for middle and high schoolers at Great Hearts Academy in Phoenix, AZ. Brian is interested in the accessibility and pedagogy of mathematics; he has continued his passion for teaching mathematics by engaging with experienced instructors from all walks of life.
