The dining hall and two new residence halls on the east side of campus were built with TCU’s next 150 years in mind.

“These beautiful new spaces will foster lifelong friendships and cherished memories for generations of Horned Frogs,” Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., said as Gutierrez Hall, Hill Hall and Walsh Hall were dedicated before a crowd of 200 people.

Students, TCU administrators, donors and their families and TCU Board of Trustee members were on hand April 11 to get a firsthand look at the new facilities, which opened to students at the beginning of the semester.

The new facilities support TCU’s new strategic plan, LEAD ON: Values in Action, which includes four key pillars, the first of which is student-centered growth.

“These very impressive additions make our campus even more engaging and functional for our students,” President Daniel W. Pullin said. “This bold, innovative plan represents our collective vision for TCU … and builds on the great momentum TCU has experienced over the last several years. What I love most about LEAD ON: Values in Action is that it is student-focused and student-centered — just like these gorgeous new facilities!”

About the Donors

Gutierrez Hall is named in honor of Trustee Joe Gutierrez and his wife, Faith Gutierrez. They are the proud parents of seven children, including two Horned Frogs: Joseph Gutierrez ’21, a political science alumnus, and Nicolas, a current economics major.

Gutierrez is CEO and president of Novi Midstream, an energy company in Houston. He became a member of the TCU Board of Trustees in 2020.

At TCU, the Gutierrez family has established the Gutierrez Endowed Professorship in Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the TCU Neeley School of Business and the Health Professions Learning Center Endowment in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences. They are passionate about TCU Athletics and supported the TCU Athletics Human Performance Center.

Hill Hall is named in honor of Trustee Elliott Hill ’86 and his wife, Gina Hill. Hill is the president and CEO of Nike and earned his bachelor’s degree in kinesiology. He has been a member of the TCU Board of Trustees since 2013. He has also served on the Neeley Board of Advisors at the TCU Neeley School of Business.

The Hills are longtime supporters of TCU Athletics, generously giving to the Amon G. Carter Stadium Expansion Project and the TCU Athletics Human Performance Center, where they named the Ronald and Kay Clinkscale Student-Athlete Wellness Lounge. They also established the Chris Hall and T. Ross Bailey endowed post-graduate internships. The Hills have supported academic programs within the Neeley School of Business and College of Fine Arts and established the Jo Frances Hill Endowed Scholarship in memory of Elliott Hill’s mother. They are the proud parents of Austin and Peyton.

Walsh Hall is named in honor of the family of Trustee F. Howard Walsh III and The Walsh Foundation. The Walsh family has provided remarkable leadership on the Board of Trustees, helping to develop TCU into a nationally known, well-respected institution for three generations. F. Howard Walsh ’33 served on the Board from 1968 to 1983. F. Howard Walsh Jr. ’63 served from 1983 to 2016. F. Howard Walsh III, president and chairman of the Walsh Companies and a director of The Walsh Foundation, is currently serving after beginning his tenure in 2018.

The Walsh family has provided steadfast support to TCU Athletics, including the Walsh Athletic Complex, Amon G. Carter Stadium, Ed and Rae Schollmaier Arena and Basketball Complex, Charlie and Marie Lupton Baseball Stadium, and the new TCU Athletics Human Performance Center.

Their generous support of academics includes capital projects such as the Mary D. and F. Howard Walsh Center for Performing Arts and the J.E. & L.E. Mabee Foundation Education Complex as well as multiple endowed scholarship, program and faculty funds. They recently established The Walsh Foundation Endowment to support the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at TCU.
