The Mary Couts Burnett Library is turning 100 years old, and TCU is celebrating. The
library has put together the story of its history, a place to share memories and a
host of events to commemorate the occasion.
“When Mary Couts Burnett bestowed what is still the largest single gift to the university,
she likely had no idea how far her generosity would reach and that the library building
bearing her name would still be the intellectual hub of our campus,” said Dean Tracy
Hull. “While the library cannot claim to have produced any alumni, it has been used
by virtually every student and faculty member who has been on this campus. It is humbling
to be a part of this legacy and to be able to celebrate our namesake’s generous gift
but, more importantly, celebrate that the library is still an integral and critical
component of the university’s educational mission.”
