Texas Christian University faculty and staff have a profound impact on students every
day through giving their time, talents and dedication. The Office of Loyalty Giving
is asking for one more form of support during the 33rd Faculty/Staff Annual Campaign
to advance TCU’s mission and help Horned Frogs make the most of their time at TCU.
This year, support for scholarships remains a top priority, addressing the ongoing
needs of many students and families. By designating a gift to TCU Student Scholarships, donors can make an immediate difference in the lives of outstanding student leaders
like TCU Neeley’s Joe Laterza ’24.
“TCU and all its wonderful faculty and staff have helped empower me to understand
how and why to use my leadership abilities for a purpose,” he said.
Laterza graduated with a business degree in December and is now pursuing a graduate
degree in supply chain management. He is the founder and president of the TCU Scholastic
Bowl Club and a member of the TCU Football team. He serves as a guest host for the
“Frogs Today” broadcast and is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Coding
Club and the Italian Club. He also created his own food review website, showcasing
his entrepreneurial drive.
“My desired path will lead me to help empower socially and environmentally conscious
initiatives in the business world,” Laterza said. “With the leadership direction and
abilities that TCU has given me, I will be able to Lead On throughout my career and
make a lasting impact on the world of sustainable business.”
Virginia Traweek, assistant professor of finance, said Laterza’s dedication and leadership
are multifaceted.
“His greatest leadership demonstration is not just his athletics or community service,
but that he consistently ‘shows up’ for class,” she said. “Joe is always engaged —
asking thoughtful questions, participating in discussions and helping his peers understand
the material in a deeper way.”
According to the Office of Loyalty Giving, gifts help keep education attainable for
exceptional students like Laterza and provide funding for innovative academic programs
and initiatives, provide faculty development and allow the university to attract and retain outstanding faculty and staff. They
also support innovative experiences that enrich the student experience, empowering
Horned Frogs to reach their full potential.
The Faculty/Staff Annual Campaign runs through April 30. To make a gift or learn more,
