full magazine springThe spring 2025 TCU Magazine delves into research, a core pillar of TCU’s new strategic plan, with stories of discovery, innovation and the TCU spirit. Through the lens of the Scholarly Pursuit and Thesis program, the cover story takes readers inside the Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at TCU, one of few medical schools in the nation requiring a four-year research project for every M.D. candidate.

“Future doctors are tackling critical health challenges, from exploring the implications of the rise of birthing centers to investigating the link between COVID-19 and diabetes,” said Caroline Collier, editor. “These students aren’t just learning medicine; they’re shaping its future.”

Beyond the lab, the magazine spotlights Angel Sheu, a third-year medical student who partnered with the nonprofit Drew’s 27 Chains to distribute lifesaving naloxone doses and provide crucial training to first responders and medical professionals. Her innovative QR code system not only tracks the impact of this vital program on reducing opioid overdose deaths but also provides an innovative method to collect research data.
