That’s right, TCU Football is heading to Ireland to open the 2026 season. On Aug. 29, the Horned Frogs will face the University of North Carolina in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Dublin’s iconic Aviva Stadium.
“We’re honored to be selected for this showcase,” said Mike Buddie, TCU director of intercollegiate athletics. “We know our fans will turn Dublin into a sea of purple, and our student-athletes will come home with something far more meaningful than a win: memories that last a lifetime.”
It’s the first time in program history that the Frogs will play internationally. But this is more than a game — it’s a global moment for TCU and Horned Frog fans.
“TCU is more than just a university, and this is more than just a game,” said President Daniel W. Pullin. “It’s a one-of-a-kind opportunity to give our student-athletes and fans an unforgettable cultural experience while showing the world what Horned Frog excellence looks like.”
Quarterback Josh Hoover said he and his teammates will be proud to represent TCU abroad.
“Being able to travel overseas and play a football game in Ireland makes us so appreciative of this unique opportunity. We also understand how this goes beyond football” said the TCU Neeley student-athlete. “This is why students choose to come to TCU, knowing they’ll have memorable experiences in and out of the classroom and athletics competition. For most of our team, including me, this will be our first time traveling to Europe, and we are very much looking forward to sharing the moment together and with all the TCU fans making the trip to support us.”
Expect purple to be prominent in the Emerald Isle. SuperFrog selfies by castles. And the Riff Ram chant echoing through cobblestone streets. TCU fans know how to travel, and this time, we’re bringing Fort Worth all the way to Ireland.
“It’s exciting news to have our home team and Fort Worth represented on the national stage in Ireland for the Aer Lingus Classic,” said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker. “There are so many opportunities to show off the talented people of Fort Worth, our unbeatable culture and, of course, our Horned Frog student-athletes and fans. Go Frogs!”
Beyond football, this trip builds on an already strong foundation. TCU offers academic exchanges and internship opportunities in Dublin, making Ireland more than a one-time destination — it’s part of our global footprint.
“This is a global moment for TCU,” added Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. “We’ve always believed in preparing students to lead on a worldwide stage. Now, we’ll show the world what that looks like.”
