A new well house will serve as a gathering place and a formal entrance to the south side of campus. It will be located outside The Harrison and will be a classical stone gazebo with a domed copper roof.
“When we first envisioned this space, we saw a lovely and fun outdoor gathering spot,” said Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr. “Community is at the heart of what we do. I look forward to seeing this come to life and creating another place where Horned Frogs come together to enjoy our beautiful campus and make lifelong memories.”
Funding for the well house is generously provided by TCU Trustee Emeritus Nancy Tartaglino Richards and the Tartaglino Richards Family Foundation.
“On behalf of the entire TCU community, we extend our deepest gratitude to Trustee Richards and her family for this generous gift that will enhance our campus and become a backdrop for Horned Frog memories,” Boschini said. “Nancy’s thoughtfulness and support are truly appreciated.”
Todd Waldvogel, associate vice chancellor for facilities and campus planning, said sites such as these are carefully considered.
“We are always evaluating each space among the buildings on campus, looking for meaningful opportunities to enhance and energize our outdoor spaces and build community,” he said. “Balancing our green spaces and open spaces along with building and parking needs is a critical part of our campus planning.”
The well house was planned after, last year, a remaining single-family residence was removed on Wabash Avenue upon its vacancy.
