Elliott Hill ’86, a kinesiology alumnus and member of the TCU Board of Trustees, was named president and chief executive officer of NIKE, Inc., and is set to take the helm Oct. 14.
Hill retired from NIKE in 2020 after more than 30 years of senior leadership positions across the company in Europe and North America, most recently as president – consumer and marketplace. He returns upon the retirement of NIKE’s current CEO.
“It’s rare to find a leader who can at once be bold and decisive as well as thoughtful and generous,” Chancellor Victor J. Boschini, Jr., said. “As an alum, he has given back to students and invested time and resources to their success. As a Board leader, he brings strategic and mission-oriented solutions to every interaction. Elliott Hill is an inspiring Horned Frog, and we’re not surprised that he’s been tapped to lead the world’s premier brand.”
In addition to serving on TCU’s Board of Trustees, Hill and his wife, Gina, support TCU in many other ways, including offering a farmhouse in Italy to house a residency for TCU art students and serving as a mentor for student-athletes.
“Elliott is a visionary whose leadership has had an immeasurable influence on TCU,” said Jeremiah Donati, director of intercollegiate athletics. “As chairman of the intercollegiate athletics committee of our Board of Trustees, he has been a mentor to our student-athletes and a trusted friend to me, coaches and so many others in our athletics program. Through his previous work with Nike, Elliott was instrumental in growing the TCU brand globally. We congratulate Elliott and know his impact on our student-athletes and their TCU experience will continue for years to come.”
NIKE said in a press release that Hill was chosen for his global expertise, leadership style and deep understanding of industry partners.
“NIKE has always been a core part of who I am, and I’m ready to help lead it to an even brighter future,” Hill said in the release. “For 32 years, I’ve had the privilege of working with the best in the industry, helping to shape our company into the magical place it is today.”
