Floyd Wormley to Serve as Interim Provost
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Teresa Abi-Nader Dahlberg has been named president of the University of Tampa, in Tampa, Florida. She will transition to her new role effective June 1, 2024 where she will advance her leadership career in higher education.
Dahlberg notably became TCU’s first female provost in March 2019 and steered significant improvements in academic excellence, operational sustainability and campus culture, including the development and diversification of a dean’s team and leadership council that has brought about significant outcomes for the university.
During her tenure, Dahlberg guided the Office of Research to more than double the amount of external research expenditures to over $16 million—an all-time high; enhanced academic advising and tutoring; and centralized accommodated testing to enhance student support. She oversaw the successful startup and full accreditation of the Burnett School of Medicine at TCU, including its first graduating class, the 100% placement of all students, and the securing of $50 million naming gift. She played a key leadership role on the Campus Readiness Task Force that provided guidance on classroom instruction and delivery during the pandemic to maintain academic progression as safely as possible.
Dahlberg and her team ably led TCU through its reaffirmation of accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges & Schools Commission on Colleges. The multi-year project resulted in zero areas of concern across 73 required standards.
Among her many accomplishments, Dahlberg supported the first-year launch of the chancellor’s and the TCU Board of Trustees’ Race & Reconciliation Initiative to study TCU’s experiences with racism, slavery and the Confederacy, and supported three years of focused efforts to build relationships with Native American and Indigenous Peoples at TCU. She worked collaboratively with her colleagues to institutionalize both initiatives within the Office of Diversity & Inclusion.

To continue support for our the academic affairs faculty and staff, Pullin has appointed Floyd Wormley, currently vice provost for research and dean of graduate studies, to serve as interim provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs. Wormley will assume the interim role on Jan. 1, 2024 and join the cabinet leadership team. He will coordinate efforts with Dahlberg over the next few months during this transition period. A national search for a new provost and vice chancellor for academic affairs will commence in fall 2024.
