The Centanni Lab at TCU is making headlines for its receipt of a $10,000 grant to study the connections between musical instruction and dyslexia. It was one of 16 grants awarded by the GRAMMY Museum.
“We’re interested in understanding all of the different biological and environmental factors that impact reading acquisition, and what’s happening in the brain during that process,” said Tracy Centanni, assistant professor of psychology.
The grant will support exploration of how the brain perceives various elements of music, how musical training impacts this and, specifically what happens in the brain of an individual with dyslexia.
