Need to mail a holiday package? Your Christmas cards? Remember that it can be done right on campus at the TCU Post Office. The mail center is located in the Brown-Lupton University Union on the first floor, next to Chick-fil-A.
“Come in and let us weigh it and give you the best price available,” said Andy Easley, manager of mail services.
Boxes are often available, as well as shipping discounts.
“Any faculty, department staff or students can utilize our deep, deep discounts for FedEx,” he said. “Depending on which type of shipping, it can be up to about a 70 percent discount. We utilize an account afforded only to Division I universities.”
Along with FedEx, TCU can ship via United States Postal Service and can also accept packages with pre-paid UPS labels. Currently, the TCU Post Office is able to accept only cash or TCU student ID swipe.
The most important thing to remember is to ship early. Easley, a retired postmaster, advises shipping anything by Dec. 17 that the sender hopes to arrive by Christmas Day.
“Arrival depends on so many things – transportation, weather, capacity – I just wouldn’t risk mailing after Dec. 17,” he said. “Also, with Dec. 25 falling on a Saturday, it could kind of create a false sense of security. To be on the safe side, you have to look at it like Christmas falls that Thursday, Dec. 23.”
The TCU Post Office is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Dec. 21. Have a present you need to ship back? They will reopen Jan. 5.
